Elaine and Nicole are two watermen Mick and I interviewed and photographed for our upcoming book “Women Who Work the Waters of the Chesapeake Bay. These two women are kick-ass women. I photographed them oystering on a very cold, windy day in February. They’re both just amazing women. So proud to have met them and been on their boat with them.

This paper collage is 24 × 30 and it’s made of a thousands tiny pieces of paper. The background is made from maps of the Chesapeake Bay while the oysters are made of gold pieces from Gustav Klimt art. The boat lines and oyster dredge are made from sentences about them in the book while there are words and images of other things throughout. The original and giclee reproductions are available.
