Christine - Waterman
Mick and I had the pleasure of interviewing and photographing Christine for our upcoming book, Women Who Work the Waters of the Chesapeake Bay. Christine is amazing and just amazing to watch in action. Christine is a fisherman — an oysterman and crabber — and the only woman we encountered who works as a pound-net fisherman. It’s back-breaking work, yet Christine, small in stature, handles it with ease and grace. Her favorite job is to pull the fish up in her net.
This is a paper collage 30×24 made of thousands of tiny pieces of paper glued on a canvas made from a picture I took. The original and canvas and paper giclee reproductions are available.
